Printout Postage with Online Postage Services

Use the power of the Internet and save the time and trouble of traveling to the Post Office for stamps or purchasing postage. It is now possible to determine the amount of postage necessary to mail a letter or package and printout this postage on a home printer. Here’s how.

There are online companies like Stamps.com which allow you to sign up for purchase postage which can be printed to a self stick label or directly to the envelope. This postage is accepted by the US Post Office and avoids you having to travel to the Post Office to purchase stamps directly.

This online postage is great because you can usually save money on the cost of postage you would otherwise pay at the Post Office. For example you can send packages or letters via Priority Mail or Express Mail and receive up to a 10% discount this way.

If you send out a lot of packages or letters through these services, the savings can add up fast. What is nice about online postage is that you are able to purchase just the amount of postage necessary given the size and weight of what you plan to send. Otherwise if you use stamps, you either have to guess at the postage or end up putting too many or too few stamps to cover the actual postage.

Another advantage of online postage are the systems in place to help you to organize and track shipments. You can obtain a history of packages sent, the amount of postage required, and other pertinent information. This information is great to track so you understand what kind of monthly expenses are made for postage. This is especially helpful for small businesses which want to track monthly postage expenditures.

The ability to printout postage allows your packages to look very professional versus applying stamps. It can enhance the perception of your business in this way. The ability to printout postage also normally allows you to print out the return address and ship to address on the same package or envelope.
